I want to make my home more... energy efficient, green, comfortable

What is "Cash for Caulkers"?

How will Cash for Caulkers work?

Cash for Caulkers, also known as Homestar, is an upcoming stimulus program that will reward Americans who make their homes more energy efficient. The much-anticipated energy program is expected to create more jobs, offer energy savings to consumers, and help lower carbon emissions.

Nicknamed "Cash for Caulkers," the program is riding on the heels of the popular "cash for clunkers" stimulus plan, only this time with regard to home weatherization. While the bill is still being finalized, the first step for homeowners who want to be eligible for utilizing the stimulus funds will be to schedule a home energy audit with a certified contractor, like Valley Energy Solutions.

Under President Obama's proposal, homeowners would be reimbursed for energy-efficient appliances and home improvements. A homeowner could receive up to $12,000 in rebates, but the program's details are still underway. Based on earlier bills, coverage would apply to upgrading air conditioners, heating systems, washing machines, refrigerators, windows and insulation.
